NCPR has categorized the commercial communications as seven options :
1. Banking / Insurance / Financial Products / Credit Cards
2. Real Estate
3. Education
4. Health
5. Consumer Goods and Automobiles
6. Communication / Broadcasting / Entertainment / IT
7. Tourism and Leisure

Step 1:
Option 1:If you opt to choose any one or more category to receive commercial communication, you can send an SMS in the format
"START <option> to 1909
Replace option as any one of the category numbers.
Option 2:If you opt to choose multiple options like banking, tourism etc, then you can send SMS in the format
"START <option1, option2,...> to 1909.
Step 2: The provider will send you an SMS seeking your confirmation preferences.
Step 3: Send a confirmation message of DND registration. You will not be charged for this confirmation message.
Step 4: Your number will then be registered in DND and you will be informed via SMS.
