How to Avoid Telemarketing Commercial Calls / SMS using DND Service?
The Indian Telecommunication Registry allows the consumers to communicate with their dear and near ones either by call or through message. However, Telemarketing companies make unwanted calls to the subscribers and flood their inbox with unsolicited messages for selling their products. These calls and messages are annoying most of the times and is a nuisance to the consumers. In order to avoid these unsolicited telemarketing calls and SMS, TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has introduced a service named as DND.
DND (Do Not Disturb) is a service that was introduced by TRAI to block commercial calls and messages. In order to opt this service, you have to register with TRAI and choose your preference to either block or receive commercial calls. The service provider will then add your number to the National Customer Preference Registry (NCPR).
NCPR is a database containing a list of telephone/cell phone numbers of consumers who has registered their preferences regarding receipt of unsolicited calls/SMS. Telemarketers need to check the calling number in the NCPR database before calling you. This avoid unwanted calls and SMS.
