XML stands for extensible Markup Language and is acts as a tool for storing and transporting data. It was designed to be self-descriptive. It does not do anything. It just has sender information, receiver information, heading and a message body. XML is just information wrapped in tags. Difference between XML and HTML is that XML carries data, whereas HTML is designed to display data. XML tags are not predefined. HTML tags are predefined. XML says what data it has. HTML says how data looks.
