How to Find Sex / Gender Ratio at Birth?
Sex Ratio of Birth can be defined as the number of male births per 100 female births. If the ratio is less than 100, there are more females than males. If it is equal to 100, there are equal number of male and female births and if it is greater than 100, more males are there than females in population.
Formula :
Sex Ratio at Birth = (Number of Male Births / Number of Female Births) x 100
Step 1: Consider a population, where the number of female births is 5000 and number of males birth is 5210. What is the sex ratio?
Given,
Number of Male Births = 5210
Number of Female Births = 5000
Step 2: Substituting the above values, we get
Sex Ratio at Birth = (5210 /5000) x 100
= 104.2 which is approximately equal to 104.
