How to Calculate Standard Deviation of a Sample and a Population?
Standard deviation, also known as SD is used to measure how much the data are spread out. It is represented by the symbol Σ. It is used to quantify the amount of dispersion of given values. In other words, it is the square of the variance.
Formula :
Standard deviation can be calculated for sample and population using two different formulas :
SD of Sample = √Σ (X -M) 2 / (n - 1)
SD of Population =√Σ (X -M)2/ n
Where,
X = Elements
M = Mean
n = Number of Elements
