In this short tutorial we will discuss on how to delete or remove unwanted files from wordpress. Follow the steps given below to remove
unused files in a wordpress for performance optimization.
Step 1: Login to your Cpanel account → Select File Manager
Step 2: Under public_html → Select wordpress director → wp (double click the directory to open)
Step 3: Double click wp-admin to view the files and folders.
Step 4: Select the unwanted file say Install.php → Right click → Select Delete
Step 5: Check "Skip the trash and permanently delete the files" and click on "Confirm" button.
Step 6: You have now successfully deleted install.php. Likewise delete all unnecessary files and folders from the admin.
* Delete all types of installation and sample files from the wordpress admin to avoid risk of hacking.
* Disable File Editing and always upload files from your FTP login, instead of using Wp-admin file manager.
Also, you can delete files and folders through your FTP manager.
Step 7: Login to the site via your FTP Program.
Step 8: Under public_html → Select folder → Select files and Delete.
