How to reset or change your system password in Ubuntu?
Reset option is used to change the existing password. To reset password follow the steps below.
Step 1: Press Window key and search as system settings in the search box and hit enter.
Step 2: Select User Accounts option under Systems.
Step 3: In the User Accounts window, current user will be highlighted.
Note:
If the account has the access to reset the current password, it shows "Lock" button and plus symbol will be enabled.
If the user account is locked, click Unlock button. In the resulting pop-up, provide admin password and click Authenticate option.
Step 4: Under Login options select Password.
Step 5: Changing password for appears.
Step 6: Provide New password and retype the same password under Confirm password textbox. Click Change.
The user account will be replaced with the new password.
