How do you find the power?
In Physics, Power is defined as the rate of work done. It is defined as the amount of energy consumed per unit time. In simple, it is the ratio of work done by time taken. The SI unit of power is joule per second (J/s), also known as the watt. The term power is most commonly used in electrical and mechanical systems to determine the energy consumed per unit of time.
In Physics, Power or Energy can be calculated in four different ways.
Power Based On Work and Time
Power or Energy as a funciton of time, which is the rate of change of work done over a given time period.
P = Work Done / Time Take
Power Based On Force, Displacement and Time
Work is define as the force applied on an object over a distance.
P = Force x Displacement / Time Taken
Power Based On Force and Velocity
The distance per unit time is defined as the velocity, and hence
P = Force x Velocity
Power Based On Mass, Acceleration and Velocity
According to Newtons 2nd law of motion, Force is mass times the acceleration, and hence,
P = Mass x Acceleration x Velocity
