How to Calculate CFM (Cubic Feet Per Minute) from FPM ?
CFM, termed as Cubic Feet Per Minute is used to measure the air flow in or out of a space or room. It can be expressed in units as ft3/min.The CFM can be calculated based on the FPM (Feet per minute) and the area of the air space.
Cubic Feet Per Minute (CFM) = Feet Per Minute x Area of Air Space
Step 1:Consider the area of an air space as 100 square feet and the feet per minute (FPM) as 50.
Area = 100 sq.ft
FPM = 50 ft/min
Step 2:Substituting the values in the formula,
CFM = FPM x Area
= 100 x 50
Hence, Cubic Feet Per Minute (CFM) is 5000
