How do you calculate BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) for male?
BMR is known as Basal Metabolic Rate. The amount of energy or calories that is lost while the body is under rest is termed as basal metabolic rate. We can calculate the basal metabolic rate for male and female separately using different formulas.
Formula for Calculating BMR for Male :
BMR for Men = 66 + (13.8 x Weight in Kgs) + (5 x Height in cms) - (6.8 x Age in Years)
Step 1: Find the BMR for a 30 years old man weighing 60 kilograms and 160 centimeters high.
Age = 30 years
Weight = 60 kilograms
Height = 160 centimeters
Step 2: Substitute the given values in the formula,
BMR for Male = 66 + (13.8 x 60) + (5 x 160) - (6.8 x 30)
= 66 + 828+ 800 - 204
= 894 + 596
= 1490 kilocalories per day.
So, the Basal Metabolic Rate for a 30 years Male weighing 60 kgs is 1490 kcal/day.
