Calculation of average attrition rate or churn rate of employees in a concern.

## Attrition Rate or Churn Rate Calculation

Attrition Rate is defined as the percentage of employees left your company during a specific time period, usually one year. It is also referred to as Churn Rate. The rate is most commonly used in the marketing world to determine the ability of the company to retain its customers or employees.

**Formula:**

**Employee Attrition Rate = (Number of Employees Left by the End of the Period / Total Number of Employees Present at the Beginning of the Period) x 100**

Let us consider an example on how to calculate attrition or churn rate of employees.

**Step 1:** Given that,

Total number of employees in the company at the beginning of the period 2015 = 850

Total number of employees left the company at the end of the period 2015 = 150

**Step 2:** Applying the values in the formula,

Employee Attrition Rate = (Number of Employees Left by the End of the
Period / Total Number of Employees Present at the Beginning of the
Period) x 100

Employee Attrition Rate = (150 / 850) x 100

= 0.1764 x100

= 17.64%

**Result:**Hence, Employee Attrition Rate = 17.64%
